A Note from the Chairman
I recently read a post about the young lady who won at the Inglenook meeting, and I was disappointed to see that the organisers felt they had to defend their decision. Some people criticised them for allowing her to win - and I want to commend Craig Westwell and his team for standing firm, and more importantly, for standing up to the kind of snobbery that sadly still lingers in parts of the classic car world.
When we restarted Phoenix Classics four years ago, our ethos was simple and it hasn’t changed: we don’t care what you drive, how old it is, or how much it cost. What matters is that you enjoy your car, respect others, and share in the fun. This hobby should be about passion, friendship and laughter - not about who can look down on whom. By all means bring your pride and joy, but please don’t be the one who spoils it for everyone else.
As for Inglenook, I can honestly recommend their meetings. They are well run, welcoming, and attract a great variety of vehicles. There’s something for everyone to enjoy, and they embody the inclusive spirit that keeps this community alive.
Happy motoring, and I look forward to seeing you all at our next meeting.

Last Month’s Highlights
North West Casual Classics Burtonwood Show -
The North West Casual Classics held their annual show at Burtonwood, it was well attended and despite the heavy downpour a great day was had by all.

Chairman's Notes: The show at Burtonwood was a great day, despite the afternoon rain. Thank you to everyone who attended, helped set up, and assisted with dismantling the equipment afterwards. A special thanks to Gordon Fernavs for bringing the equipment it’s very much appreciated. Thanks also to Ian Baker for taking it home to dry out after the heavy downpour. Everyone who attended did the club proud, putting on a fantastic display of varied vehicles. - Carl Harry
The Great Sankey Classic Car Show was the first of what will hopefully become an annual event. Our members put on a great display of cars, another fantastic day for the club.

Chairman's notes: First of all thank you to all the members who attended the show today, it's thanks to you that makes the show and our regular meetings a success.
The Great Sankey Show was a real success! For me personally it was great to see local families come out in support for this local show. Many of the locals commented to me on how they didn't realise The Tim Parry Recreation Ground had a cafe or a hall that can be used, so I'm glad we helped promote the cafe and the centre for this great cause. The local councillors did a great job organising this event, I particularly like the glass trophy which was presented to the worthy winners, I just thought it was a nice touch. The whole event was well organised, you’d never believe it was their first time running such a show. It's a credit to their hard work that made the classic car show a great success today, moving forward I hope this show becomes an annual event for our members as well as the locals to enjoy and promote The Tim Parry Recreation Grounds. - Carl Harry
Councillor Nigel Catlow: "thank you & to all your members who made this event truly special - the feedback I have received so far has been extremely positive and excellent compliments on the cars and exhibitors, so thank you one & all"
Car of the show was Sharon Briscoe with her Nissan Figaro. Best original car was Ray Grayson with his Mk2 Humber Sceptre.

Our annual club show at the Gala drew a brilliant crowd and plenty of attention from the public. Thank you to everyone who brought a car and helped on the day.
Trophy winners included Ian Cooke and Graham Molyneux.
Cade’s 5th Birthday - Derbyshire Hill Family Centre -
A special gathering to help a car-mad youngster celebrate their birthday. Photo by Carl Harry.
Sometimes the simplest gatherings are the most meaningful. For Cade’s fifth birthday - a young lad with ADHD and a huge passion for cars - Geoff Twist put out the message and Phoenix members got together to put on a small show at the Derbyshire Hill Community Centre. Nine cars lined up in the sunshine, giving Cade the chance to wander amongst them and choose his favourite.
The club presented him with a "pirates" birthday cake. In return, the centre laid on tea, coffee, and cakes and biscuits for the attending members. Cade’s highlight of the day was picking Andrew Rigby’s Porsche 944 as the car he’d most like to "drive home."
The day was a simple act of kindness, but one that made his birthday truly special - and a reminder of how much the club enjoys coming together to support our community as well as our cars.
Tatton ParkClassic Car Show -
Glorious weather and a strong club presence at Tatton Park. Photo by Dave Kendall
What a fantastic weekend for Phoenix at Tatton Park. A huge thank you goes to Vice Chairman Mike Reuben for pulling everything together, and to Sarah Lee Horton and Janet Molyneux whose breakfast barms kept everyone going in the blazing heat. Special thanks also to the team who gave up their Friday to set up the stand - Mike Reuben, Oliver Turner, Geoff Twist, Alan Thompson, Bob Holder, David Hodkinson, Graham Molyneux, and Mikey Etheridge - your efforts were greatly appreciated.
The stand looked superb, every car and motorcycle was a credit to its owner, and the laughs and banter made it a weekend to remember. Congratulations to Neil Gilbody for taking Best Light Commercial with his entry, and to our new Chairman’s Choice Trophy winners: 3rd place Andrew Rawson with his immaculate Mk5 Ford Escort - an increasingly rare model in such original condition, 2nd place Janine Thompson with her pristine Toyota MR2 - it's admired in the club for its exceptional preservation, and 1st place Alan Bricklebank for his outstanding Vauxhall Astra GSi - a vehicle that reflects countless hours of commitment and restoration work. A true showcase of passion across the club.
