Phoenix Classics Monthly Newsletter - November 2025

Issue #3 : Published

A Note from the Chairman

It’s with great sadness that I begin this month’s notes with the news that a much loved member Terry Waldock passed away Monday at 5:53 pm after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

For those who didn’t know Terry personally many will remember his beautiful red Lancia Delta which featured at so many of our shows this year.

He will be deeply missed by all of us.

It was also a moment of great honour to see our members take part in the Armistice Parade at the Cenotaph in Rixton. Watching our club represented by our members filled me with great pride. Remembrance Sunday isn’t just about honouring the fallen it’s also a time to remember loved ones, friends, and to reflect on the present.

Last month we held our regular meetings, all with great turnouts, especially at The Manor Farm with forty vehicles in attendance. Also a big thank you to Janine for supplying the tea urn and helping with sorting out teas and coffee.

Last Month’s Highlights

Penketh Conservative Club - NWCC Monthly Meeting -

Phoenix members present; Phil Read, Ian Baker, Brian Daulby, Graham Morris and Bob Holder.

The purpose of our visit was to take part in a presentation on road safety given by PC Richard Woodward from Cheshire Police. Richard is well known if you watch Motorway Cops on the TV. He played some harrowing videos of avoidable car crashes and other misdemeanours on our roads, covering things like drink/drug driving, mobile phones, seat belts, speeding etc. which went on for just over 2 hours. A very informative evening and well recommended. - Phil Read, Club Secretary

Club Trip to Newark Autojumble -

Janine organised a weekend at the Newark Autojumble. Members drove down on the Saturday, staying overnight in a hotel with an Indian restaurant next door. A "crappest buy" competition was organised to see who could buy the worst object for five pounds - won by Oliver Turner with his headlamp. The group got to meet Henry Cole, and we're more than likely to be repeating the trip in 2026.

Salford Van Hire Neil Howard Stages, Oulton Park -

At the start of the month Geoff Twist and I attended the rally stages at Oulton Park, where we met up with Darren Walsh and his partner Angela. It’s an event I’d highly recommend for next year! - Carl Harry
